Ostrander man killed in crash

Michael Lee Shroat, 55, of Ostrander, was pronounced dead by the Union County Coroner after a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Route 347 and Lunda Road on Friday.

According to a media release from The Ohio State Highway Patrol, at 4:30 p.m., Shroat was driving in a 2020 Honda HRV east on Route 347. At the same time, a 2010 Mazda CX7 was driving south on Lunda Road and approaching the intersection. The driver of the Mazda, Matthew W.

Kauser, 39, of Marysville, failed to stop at the stop sign, striking Shroat’s Honda in the driver’s – side door. During the collision, Shroat was forced off the south edge of Route 347, striking a tree. Kauser was forced off the east edge of Lunda Road before coming to a stop.
