Village continues to fight downtown apartments

Richwood Council is looking to improve zoning permits in the village to combat downtown apartments.

At the regular meeting of council on Monday, officials discussed ways that they could better regulate first-floor apartments, which is an ongoing issue in the village.

Council member Jackie Hamilton asked Zoning Inspector Marion Bump if the village’s zoning permits are specific to which floor in the building that work will be done by an owner.

“So if they came to you and said, ‘we’re going to be doing work in this building only on the second floor’, does your zoning permit say it’s for work only on the second floor?” Hamilton said, adding that if the (Union County Building Department) receive…
