Youth behavioral health issues on the decline

Reports of youth behavioral issues in Union County are going down and the Mental Health and Recovery Board said it’s due in large part to the increase in prevention programs in schools.

As part of the annual report to the county recently, Adam Negley, the MHRB’s executive director, told the commissioners that over the last four years, numbers have fallen.

“We are seeing some good trends as it relates to older kids feeling anxiety and psychological distress. We’ve been investing heavily in prevention efforts in the school setting using some of those funds that we received from grants as well as allocations from the state,” he said. We’re seeing ye…
