Downtown apartments issue gets new information

A member of the public is coming forward with information about the unlawful apartments downtown in the business district. At the regular meeting on Monday, Council President Reddy Brown brought up the ongoing issue with downtown apartments, which go against the village zoning rules. Village Solicitor Julie Spain said that a member of the public approached her who “feels he has very specific knowledge of a couple different apartments where this is happening,” Spain said.

She said that he was going to give Zoning Inspector Marion Bump a statement along with any documentation that he has. Brown asked if this could be a potential witness for a signed affidavit saying there is a resident in the downtown apartments, to which Spain replied, “tha…
