Richwood Opera House goes up for sale

Council officials motioned to put the Richwood Opera House on the market and up for sale.

At the regular meeting of Richwood Council on Monday, Council President Reddy Brown, who is also on the Opera House Committee, introduced the motion along with an appraisal for the building that came in at $75,000.

In June, the Opera House Committee previously gave their recommendation to council to put the building up for sale. When the committee was formed years ago, the goal was always a full restoration. This change from the committee gradually happened after plans for a full restoration were thwarted by studies revealing costs exceeding $2-3 million.
