From Gazette Staff reports
The Union County Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society will be meeting on Saturday, Sept. 21 at the Marysville Public Library in meeting room B. The speaker will be military history buff Bo Johnstone, who will be talking about Co. E of the 4th Ohio Infantry Regiment on the Mexican border in 1916-17 and how it prepared them for WWI. Bo Johnstone is the museum and Docent Director for the Union County Historical Society. He and his wife Marleen live in Marysville with their dog Moxie. They have three sons and a daughter-in-law: Matthew, David, James and Amber. He is the Chairman of the Marysville Memorial Day Committee, and is on the Union County Veterans Remembrance Committee and serves as the emcee for the Veterans Day ceremony. Bo served over 20 years in the U.S. Army, Army Reserves and State Defense Forces of Ohio. He retired from active service in 2019 with the permanent rank of Lieutenant Colonel. However, he is only semi-retired from the military, as he is still active as a reserve volunteer, helping various units with operations, planning, instruction and threat assessment. He and Marleen attend Marysville Christian Church.
