Opera House plans might be changing once again

Richwood Council’s former plans to fix the broken truss in the Opera House and put it up for sale have fallen through.

At the regular meeting on Monday, Mayor Scott Jerew said that he was worried about the $150,000 capital budget so he looked into it.

“There is a bond on the $150,000 and the $50,000 that if we use the 150 or the 50 from the completion date, the village needs to retain ownership of the Opera House for at least 10 years,” Jerew said. “So that changes a lot of things.”

At the Opera House Committee meeting on last week, Council President Reddy Brown explained the situation in more detail.
