The Opera House’s future

I am so sad to hear our wonderful 133-year-old Opera House is in jeopardy. It would be nice if it could be restored and used as an event space but where would people park? People would park along the street and it would end up being a nightmare for the neighborhood and the police department. The clock tower has been in the town logo for over 40 years. I personally think the clock tower has to stay somehow. If we can save the tower and some of the bricks from the building and build a new foundation for the tower and maybe use some of the bricks to put around the outside. The new clock tower would not have to be as tall as the building but it should be kind of tall. If as much of the building can be reused for something that would be great. Maybe if there is a park on that space, use some of the bricks for the walkways. I am sure the Opera House committee has thought of many ways to reuse or redo. Growing up in Richwood, I have walked or rode my bike past that building thousands of times and it will be sad not to see it there. But I think if we all put our heads together and we can do something great with that space.
