Livestock sale hits new record: $400K

This year’s Richwood Independent Fair set a record during the livestock sale.

On Monday, during the annual event, local buyers paid nearly $450,000 for animals at the sale, up from $383,000 at last year’s fair.

Cody Johnston, fair board president, said that number is likely indicative of records being broken across the board.

“That’s something we want to get better at, is the record keeping,” he said. “I’m in the process of looking at past sales, but I have to imagine many records were broken this year.”
