With summer quickly coming to an end, it’s time to start thinking about kids returning to school. “For several months now, drivers have been traveling the roads and passing schools without the thought of yellow flashing lights or school buses. But now it’s time to start thinking about school zones, kids walking, and buses picking up and dropping off kids,” says Sheriff Jamie Patton.

According to research by the National Safety Council, the majority of children who lose their lives in bus-related incidents are between the ages of 5 and 10 years old and walking. Children can be hit by a bus or a motorist illegally passing a stopped school bus. Here’s a few tips to help keep kids safer when going to and from school.
