100 YEARS AGO JUNE 22, 1923
West Ottawa street is being rebuilt. A force of men last week began making the excavation preparatory to refilling and resurfacing the street. The expense, which is estimated at $7,000 will be borne in the main by county; funds being used form the two mill road levy. Property owners along the street contributed to a fund which will be used in the work and the village will pay a portion of the expense. The surface of the street will be constructed from Kentucky asphalt, a material which has proven satisfactory in other places. Difficulty is being experienced in securing a sufficient working force to carry the work along rapidly.
